Alderson Broaddus University Women's Soccer (ABWSOC) is the women's soccer program at Alderson Broaddus University (A-B) in Philippi, West Virginia, United States and competes within the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), an NCAA Division II league. A–B had been a member of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) since the school's creation in 1932 from the merger of Alderson Academy and Broaddus College, both of which had been charter WVIAC members in 1924. The WVIAC disbanded in 2013 after the league's football-playing schools announced in 2012 they would break away to form a new conference, which would eventually become the Mountain East Conference. Shortly after the announcement of the split, A-B accepted an invitation to the G-MAC effective in 2013–14. == History == The Women's Soocer program at the school then known as Alderson-Broaddus College was established in 2008 under the guidance of current Head Coach Patrick McGinnis. The Lady Battlers posted a 3-13 record in their inaugural season but quickly rebounded the following year with a record of 12-4-1, the 7th largest improvement in NCAA Division II history. As a result, Patrick McGinnis was selected as the 2009 WVIAC Coach of the Year. In 2010 the Lady Battlers continued to improve by finishing 3rd in the WVIAC regular season and reached the WVIAC Tournament Championship match. They finished the season with a record of 12-5-4 and ranked 4th in NCAA Division II in Save %, 10th in Goals Allowed, and 15th in Shutout Percentage. The following season Patrick McGinnis led the Lady Battlers to a 2nd place finish in the WVIAC regular season and the program’s 1st WVIAC Tournament Championship. Additionally the Lady Battlers qualified for the NCAA Division II Tournament and placed 6 players on the NSCAA All-Region Team, 10 players on the WVIAC All-Conference Team and A-B Goalkeeper Kate Laird was selected as the WVIAC Player of the Year. For his efforts, Patrick McGinnis was selected as the 2011 WVIAC Coach of the year, his 2nd in 3 seasons.
